Short bio:

Hello! My name is Julie, and I am a birth & labor doula and a student of fertility awareness education in Charlotte, North Carolina.

I believe in, honor, and encourage physiological birth. I believe in the power of connectedness, of relationships between women within a community. To that end, as your doula and your guide, my goal is to really get to know you so that you will feel comfortable and confident with me by your side during the birth of your new baby.

I specialize in working with first-time mothers and parents, and admittedly prefer homebirth settings. At the hospital, we will make a great team if your goal is to eliminate the need for any and all medical interventions, including management of third stage labor. I really encourage you towards a natural, physiological birth. Regardless of the location of your child's birth, I am an active participant in your labor and I will be walking with you, squatting with you, massaging you, and offering many other forms of pain management that involve movement, breath work, and connection to loved ones.

I am currently a student of The Well: School of Body Literacy, and am excited to begin counseling teens, womxn, and couples in Fertility Awareness and its many uses. People who experience menstruation have access to a wealth of knowledge about their health and physiology literally at their fingertips when they practice Fertility Awareness. Through the use of this practice, I will be able to teach you how to avoid an unwanted pregnancy, achieve a pregnancy when you're ready, and to gauge your hormonal and gynecological health. I strongly believe that all girls, women, and womxn should have access to this information.
